Souls for Sale: A Journey of Redemption and Faith
Every soul that steps onto the stage of life on Earth faces a profound choice: to whom will it belong? Even Jesus, during His time on Earth, was not exempt from this spiritual auction. The devil, relentless in his pursuit, tried every tactic to tempt Him into selling His soul. Yet, Jesus stood firm, rooted in the Word of God.

Souls for Sale |
"Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, 'If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.' But He answered and said, 'It is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."'" (Matthew 4:1-4). This encounter reveals a profound truth: the battle for our souls is real, and the stakes are eternal.
But how did humanity find itself in this spiritual marketplace?
The answer lies in the story of Adam and Eve.
The Fall: When Souls Were First Sold
God never intended for souls to be auctioned off. Yet, when Adam and Eve succumbed to the serpent's lies, they sold their souls to the devil. It wasn’t an impulsive decision; it was a gradual surrender. God, in His infinite wisdom, chose to trust them, just as He trusts us today.
When we come to the altar, seeking forgiveness, God doesn’t scrutinize our past or future. If we confess our sins, repent with genuine sorrow, and believe in His forgiveness, He saves us instantly. From that moment, it’s up to us to live in His Word, pray, and remain steadfast.
The Two Bidders: God vs. the Devil
Once saved, the battle isn’t over. The devil never stops trying to reclaim what he’s lost. He’s a relentless bidder, offering temporary pleasures and false promises. But God’s bid is eternal, sealed with the blood of Jesus.
"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
Jesus, the Word made flesh (John 1:14), faced the devil’s temptations head-on. When offered the kingdoms of the world in exchange for worship, Jesus rebuked him: "Away with you, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.'" (Matthew 4:10)
We don’t need to prove ourselves to the devil. Engaging with his lies only endangers our souls. His offers are half-truths at best, and lies at worst. Adam and Eve learned this the hard way.
Adam and Eve: The First Spiritual Betrayal
The devil’s strategy hasn’t changed. He tempted Eve with the allure of knowledge and pleasure, twisting God’s words. "Then the serpent said to the woman, 'You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.'"* (Genesis 3:4-5)
Eve fell for the lie, and Adam followed. Their eyes were opened, but not to the glory they expected. Instead, they felt shame, fear, and condemnation. They traded paradise for fig leaves and exile.
The Price of Redemption: Jesus’ Sacrifice
Because of Adam and Eve’s sin, humanity was enslaved to the devil. But God had a plan. Jesus, the last Adam, came to pay the ultimate price. He endured the cross, shedding His blood to buy us back.
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)
Through His sacrifice, healing and redemption became available to all. Diseases like cancer, diabetes, and even AIDS are no match for His power. a-lot of miracles have been witnessed —lepers cleansed, the blind seeing, and the dying restored to life. Jesus is the Healer, and His blood still works wonders today.
The Curse and the Cure
Adam and Eve’s sin brought a curse upon humanity—pain, sickness, and death. But Jesus bore that curse on the cross. He took our sicknesses and carried our pains. His resurrection broke the chains of sin and death, offering us eternal life.
Yet, the choice remains ours. Will we accept God’s bid or succumb to the devil’s lies? The rich young ruler (Mark 10:17-22) chose his wealth over eternal life. Lot’s wife (Genesis 19:26) looked back at Sodom and turned into a pillar of salt. Their stories warn us: holding onto the world costs us our souls.
The Final Auction: Choose Wisely
The devil’s offers are tempting—wealth, power, pleasure. But they come at a cost: eternal separation from God. Hell is real, and it’s a place of torment, not just a state of mind. Jesus described it as a place where "the worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched." (Mark 9:48)
But God’s offer is life—abundant and eternal. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."(John 3:16)
A Call to Surrender
Sinner, backslider, it’s time to choose. Will you sell your soul to the devil or surrender it to God? Pray this prayer with me:
"Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I confess my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for me and rose again. I surrender my life to You. Take my soul, Lord, and make me Yours. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
If you prayed that prayer, you’ve chosen life. Now, stay rooted in God’s Word, pray without ceasing, and live for Him. Your soul is no longer for sale — it belongs to Jesus.
Healing and Wholeness in Christ
God wants you whole—spirit, soul, and body. "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers." (3 John 1:2) Whether you’re battling sickness, addiction, or despair, Jesus is your answer. His blood still heals, delivers, and sets free.
The Ultimate Victory
One day, Jesus will return. Those who are watching and waiting will be caught up to meet Him in the air. "Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet."* (1 Corinthians 15:51-52)
Until then, stay sold out to God. Live for Him, share His Gospel, and keep your eyes on eternity. The greatest life is the Jesus life. Don’t let the devil outbid God for your soul. Choose life, choose Jesus, and live forever in His glory.
